The Troy School District is welcoming three familiar faces into new leadership roles this year, continuing a tradition of growth, excellence, and community investment. Ross Burdette, Jesse Allgeier, and Dr. David Recker have each stepped into new positions that reflect their dedication to students, staff, and families across the district.

In the fall of the 2022–23 school year, a small group of juniors approached district leadership with a bold idea: create a space where student voice, leadership, and agency could sit at the center of meaningful conversations about school culture, community, and student experience.

At just 16 years old, Gugan Karthigeyan is already making an impression as both a writer and visual artist. A rising junior at International Academy East, Gugan recently published his debut poetry collection.

After the success of the first ever Badminton Tournament in Troy, Athens and Troy High Badminton Club came together again to host another round of both singles and doubles tournaments.

In the Troy School District, creativity has found a home—and a name: the Creative Guild. What began as a rebrand of the district’s outdated “Cable Crew” has since transformed into a vibrant, student-powered content team creating everything from short films and podcasts to sports blogs and so much more.

Creativity often finds us in the most unexpected places and for Mary Henen, it showed up in her high school art class. A rising senior at Troy College and Career High School, Mary discovered her passion for crocheting a little less than six months ago while exploring different art mediums in class.

Charity Week is an annual event held by the Student Council of Athens High School. After selecting a charity, Athens hosts a multitude of different fundraisers like restaurant nights, ice skating, sporting events, and in-school activities.

IA East delivered their 4th annual Culture Show on Saturday, January 25. The event celebrates several cultures represented in the student population through various forms of creative expression.

This year Troy High School put on a performance of “White Christmas” for their winter musical. With six different show dates plus a student matinee, there were many opportunities to catch the spectacular show.

MUSE hits it off again with another year of Coffeehouse, this time with an underwater theme. Poets, singers, bands, and other artists with exceptional talent all came together to bring Athens an unforgettable night.
