Our Student Athletes Have Finished Competitive Play for the Winter

Girls Powerlifting

The Troy Athens Girls Powerlifting team has done it for the 4th year in a row; they are state champions once again. At the state meet on March 7, 2026, at Lake Orion High School, the team scored 65 points.

Individually, two athletes placed first in their weight class:

• Senior, Kata Tasich (114): 605 Total

• Senior, Mariana Gould (165): 825 Total

In addition, many athletes were recognized for being All-State Athletes:

• Senior, Davenport Commit, Mya Hengstebeck: Placed 2nd in the 155-weight class - 750 total

• Senior, Ciara Lenz: Placed 3rd in the SHW weight class - 820 total

• Senior, Lulu Thaqi: Placed 4th in the 123-weight class - 565 total

• Sophomore, Juliana Sullivan: Placed 5th in the 105-weight class - 470 total

• Sophomore, Talia Atkinson: Placed 7th in the 114-weight class - 515 total

• Sophomore, Renata Martinez: Placed 8th in the 198-weight class - 685 total

• Senior, Aly Alojipan: Placed 9th in the 105-weight class - 430 total

• Freshman, Brooklynne Miller: Placed 9th in the 155-weight class - 655 total

• Freshman, Violette Dombrowski: Placed 9th in the 165-weight class - 675 total

At the state meet for Troy High, Senior, Zaria Johnson placed first in the 155-weight class, making her an Individual State Champ once again. Senior, Jeanne Park received the powerlifting scholarship from the Michigan High School Powerlifting Association (MHSPLA) for her athletic career throughout high school. Both athletes were able to finish their careers with 4 All-State titles each.

Boys Powerlifting

For the first time in program history, the Troy Athens Powerlifting team won a state title. The team had 60 total team points at the state meet.

Individually, two athletes placed first in their weight class:

• Senior, Gavin Blaeske (114): 755 total

• Senior, Kody Kott (132): 955 total

Furthermore, many lifters were All-State Athletes:

• Senior, Jackson Sosnoski: Placed 3rd in the 155-weight class - 1140 total

• Senior, Joshua Asirvatham: Placed 4th in the 114-weight class - 615 total

• Senior, Ethan Lee: Placed 4th in the 145-weight class - 975 total

• Senior, Eli Burt: Placed 4th in the 207-weight class - 1290 total

• Senior, Preston Goddard: Placed 7th in the 155-weight class - 1015 total

• Junior, Logan Atkinson: Placed 9th in the 145-weight class - 890 total

• Senior, Pierce Choi: Placed 10th in the 132-weight class - 780 total

At the state meet, the Colts had 4 athletes that recieved All-State medals:

• Junior, Ronan Faulkner: Placed 2nd in the 220-weight class

• Senior, Nathan Wang: Placed 3rd in the 132-weight class

• Junior, Cameron Dombrowski: Placed 4th in the 242-weight class

• Senior, Eric Kim: Placed 10th in the 220-weight class

Synchronized Swimming

The Troy United Synchronized Swim team placed 2nd overall at States. For specific routines, the team placed 2nd in 3 group routines which included the tech team, free trio, and combo 1. They placed 5th and 3rd in their duets (5th for tech duet and 3rd for free duet), and 4th in their Combo 2 routine.

Girls Basketball

The Lady Red Hawks had an incredible season where they became the OAA Blue League Champs. They went 17-5, which led them to earn a bye in the first round of the playoffs. They faced Warren Cousino where they won 44-23 and then played Troy in the District 29 final. The Hawks beat Troy 50-41. This season, Coach Stacie Klumpp was named the OAA Blue Coach of The Year.

• Senior, Rochester Christian commit, Kata Tasich: OAA Blue All-League

• Senior, Katie Malone: OAA Blue All-League

• Freshman, Gabby Bieniek: OAA Blue All-League

• Junior, Madi Stencel: OAA Blue All-League Honorable Mention

• Junior, Annabelle Beaubien: OAA Blue All-League Honorable Mention

• Senior, Erica Obra is also committed to Indiana Tech to play basketball.

This season, the Colts went 13-8 where they lost in the District 29 finals to Troy Athens. Senior, Olivia Jasniewicz set the single season steal record with 89. Sophomore, Maci Zeiter set the single season assists record with 78.

The Colts had many girls recognized for awards:

• Sophomore, Maci Zeiter: First Team OAA Blue All-League

• Senior, Olivia Jasniewicz: First Team OAA Blue All-League

• Senior, Carly Higginbotham: OAA Blue All-League Honorable Mention

• Senior, Olivia Spangler: OAA Blue All-League Honorable Mention

Boys Swim & Dive

This season, the Colts became the OAA League Champs for the Red Division. In addition, head coach Kyle Larson was named the OAA Red Swim Coach of the Year.

At the state meet, the Colts really showed up:

• Senior, Lucas Fernandes was a finalist in 50 freestyle: finished 15th overall.

• Senior, Eric Zhou swam under a minute in the 100 breaststroke: finished 11th overall.

• Junior, Larson Custer finished 10th overall in 200 IM and 6th overall in the 500 freestyle.

• Senior, Denison commit, Ben Bricker was 3rd overall in the 100 backstroke and 2nd overall in the 200 freestyle. His performance in the 200 freestyle earned All

American Automatic Honors.

This year, the Red Hawks became back-to-back OAA Blue League Champs. Junior, Everett placed 5th in diving at regionals which qualified him for the state meet. There, he finished top 20 in the finals.

Wrestling

This season, the Red Hawks became back-to-back OAA League Champions. The Hawks were 26-9 this season, and their Team League Record was 5-0. Senior, Stephen Lezotte earned his 100th varsity win this season. Head Coach Robby Keyes was named the OAA Blue Coach of the Year for his second consecutive year.

The Colts season ended in the Team Wrestling District 131 Semifinal with a 56-19 loss to Rochester Adams. Dax Fegley, Carter Sanchez-Peubla, and Selah Houston represented Troy each individually during the MHSAA Championships.

Hockey

This season, Troy United were the OAA League Champs in the White Division. They went 8-0-0 in the division and went 26-3-0, including their Regional loss to Utica in a 6-5 overtime heartbreaker.

• Athens Junior, Kaiser Ascencio: OAA All-Conference

• Troy Senior, Joey Clark: OAA All-Conference

• Athens Senior, Ben Dumas: OAA All-Conference

• Athens Sophomore, Noah Dumas: OAA All-Conference

• Troy Senior, Aaron Stinson: OAA All-Conference

• Athens Junior, Kaiser Ascencio: MHSAA All-State Honorable Mention

Joey Clark also reached 111+ career points, which now makes him the All-Time Troy United Points and Assists leader.

Girls Ski

The Berkley-Athens-Troy girls ski team finished the regular season undefeated. During Divisionals, the team became champs in Slalom and Giant Slalom. During Regionals, the team gained a title in Slalom, and then a team qualification to states. This became the strongest season in girls' team history. The team ended up placing 9th during the State Championship where they scored 302 total points.

Here's where the girls placed during States:

• Troy Senior, Riley Durak: 52nd place

• Reily Robertson: 59th place

• Emma Pollock, Arielle Yoffee, Gabi Votral, and Tessa Rontal all placed 72nd.

The team also received awards:

• Tessa Rontal: 2nd Team All-State - Giant Slalom

• Tessa Rontal: Honorable Mention All-State

• Troy Sophomore, Alexis Phillips: Honorable Mention All-State

Boys Ski

This season was a great one for the boys' team. During Regionals, the team overall placed 5th with a total of 231 points.

Here's how the team placed during the Slalom portion:

• Troy Senior, James Mihelich: 8th place - 49.20 total.

• Troy Senior, Jack Horvath: 20th place - 52.58 total.

• Athens Senior, Ryan Scobel: 38th place - 58.82 total.

• Patrick Oatley: 73rd place.

• Ben Wine: 73rd place.

• Brayden Clous: 73rd place.

During the Giant Slalom portion, here's how the team placed:

• Patrick Oatley: 6th place - 36.17 total.

• Ben Wine: 25th place - 37.67 total.

• Brayden Clous: 28th place - 37.95 total.

• Troy Senior, James Mihelich: 33rd place - 38.72 total.

• Athens Senior, Ryan Scobel: 36th place - 39.13 total.

• Troy Senior, Jack Horvath: 57th place - 45.59 total.

Two skiers individually qualified for states:

• Troy Senior, James Mihelich: 31st place - 75.11 total.

• Patrick Oatley: 24th place - 80.12 total.

Boys Bowling

The Hawks had a great year with consistency all around. At Regionals, the team placed second, which led them to compete at the State Team Finals. There, they placed 12th, however, this marks the third straight year the team has competed in the state meet. Individually, Junior, Gaige Gajewski rolled an 1138 series over six games. And, Freshman, Noah Magolan placed 10th out of a field of 56 in the qualifying round. There, he rolled a 1281 in six games and made it into the sweet 16. He won 413-355 over a competitor from Hudsonville, which led him into the elite eight. There, he lost 427-390 to a competitor from Salem.

Many Red Hawks were recognized for awards this season:

• Junior, Gaige Gajewski: 1st Team All-Conference

• Senior, Prasham Rathod: 3rd Team All-Conference

• Freshman, Noah Magolan: 1st Team All-State

The entire team also won the Sportsmanship Award for the second year in a row.

During Regionals, Troy placed 10th where they bowled 2431 as a team. Individually, the team was spread out all over the board.

• Senior, Joe Lindholm: Tied for 17th place - 1046 total.

• Junior, Adam Jakubowicz: 41st place - 872 total.

• Senior, Kevin Kwon: 44th place - 862 total.

• Senior, James Belton: 45th place - 841 total.

• Freshman, Caleb Bossenbroek: 46th - 839 total.

Girls Bowling

At regionals, the Colts placed 3rd where they bowled a 2155 collectively. Individually, many Lady Colts competed:

• Junior, Ryley Helder: 8th place - 867 total.

• Senior, Peytyn Herron: 10th place - 855 total.

• Senior, Sofia Romero: 14th place - 787 total.

• Freshman, Lochlyn Hurd: 22nd place - 672 total.

• Junior, Katherine Park: 27th place - 614 total.

• Freshman, Helena Park: 28th place - 578 total.

Competitive Cheer

For the second time in school history, the Red Hawks became OAA League Champs in the White Division. During Districts, the Hawks placed 7th with a total of 710.10 points scored.

During districts this season, the Colts scored 664.42 total points which placed them 10th.

Boys Basketball

This season, the Colts finished 8-14. In the playoffs, they beat Athens 51-47 in the District 29 semifinals. They then lost to Royal Oak, 50-43 in the District 29 final to end their season. Also, Coach Fralick received his 500th career win.

Many Colts won honors this season:

• Sophomore, Hayden Oriol: OAA Blue All-League

• Will DeArmit: OAA Blue All-League

• Junior, Blake Kuiper: OAA Blue Honorable Mention

• Junior, Grant Wilkins: OAA Blue Honorable Mention

• Senior, Cam Adams: OAA Blue Honorable Mention

Gymnastics

The combined Troy/Avondale and Athens/Berkley gymnastics teams had a great season. During regionals, Senior Alyse Muscat from the Athens/Berkley team placed 2nd on vault after debuting her new vault, 7th on bars, and 6th all around. Athens-Berkley ended up placing 7th as a team. At States, Muscat came in 6th on vault.

At States, the Troy United Figure Skating Team had two teams place. The C team placed 2nd and the A team placed 11th.
