IA East Fall Olympics 2025

The 2025 Fall Olympics took place on Friday, October 10th, at IA East! IA East has a house system in which, during Olympics week, we battle for points through spirit wear and Olympics for the house cup, similar to the houses and house cup points in Harry Potter. The six houses at IA Easts are: Audemus - Go Lions,  Valemus - Go Wolves, Scimus - Go Dragons, Somnamus - Go Pegasus, Miramur - Go Unicorns, and Curamus - Go Flamingos.

The battle for points against the houses had started on Monday of that week, since it was Spirit Week. For participating in the dress-up challenges of spirit week, students won points for their house. The house with the most points by the end of the Olympics would win! This year, the spirit days were as follows: Monday - Slumber Party, Tuesday - Tacky Tourist, Wednesday - Rhyme without Reason, Thursday - Decades Day, and Friday - House Shirt and House Colors.

Then on Friday morning, everyone came with their house shirts and colors, all excited and spirited for it to begin. In the morning, until 11 o’clock, the students had classes as if it were a half day. After that, they held their opening ceremony in the gym, where all the houses sat and watched their team’s representatives compete in their first event. The opening ceremony event this year was Hula Hoop Musical Chairs, which was basically musical chairs but in pairs of people going around in a circle while balancing a hula hoop between them and putting it in a cone when the music stopped. After that, all the students went for their own Olympic events.

Each block lasted about 50 minutes, during which students competed in exciting events such as Chess, Spoons, Uno, Origami, Henna, Chalk Art, Flag Football, Duck, Duck, Goose, Basketball, and more. Students won points for their house for every event they won. After that, everyone was excited to find out who won and went to Baker Field for the closing ceremony, which was a Tug of War.

After that, they finally announced what we all had been waiting for - the winner! So, drumroll please: the top three houses were, in 3rd place, house Valemus; in 2nd place, house Curamus; and, in 1st place, the IAE Fall Olympics champion for the third year in a row was house Somnamus! Go Pegasuses! It was a fun day for everyone, and we are already looking forward to the IAE Winter Olympics, where the houses will battle once more!
