“The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” at Athens High School

This fall, Athens Theatre Company is putting on an amazing show of The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by Don Zolidis, a 2007 comedy putting a hysterical spin on the stories collected by the Brothers Grimm, intricately interweaving the stories of witches and princesses we all know and love. From loyal servants to wannabe stars, this self-aware play has it all!

At the center of it lie the two narrators, performed by Corynn Lewis and Michael Vostokov, masterfully playing off each other and the audience as they desperately attempt to complete their mission of recounting the 209 Brothers Grimm stories as they were written, “before Hollywood and Disney softened the edges” and attempt to deal with unfolding stage chaos. While some stories remain the same as we have always heard recounted, the original versions of some are beyond recognition initially.

This play also comes as the inaugural show of the new Athens Theatre Company director Mr. Marc Vickers. Mr. Vickers has performed in over 100 productions over his career and has directed over 40. He is excited to expand upon a legacy set over the 50 years of the company, previously directed by Mrs. Krista Manfredi. Mr. Vickers, alongside the rest of the Athens Theatre Company, welcomes you to The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon!
