Science Olympiad Michigan State Competition 2025

On April 26th, the best Science Olympiad teams from all over Michigan went to the Michigan State SciOly Competition! It was held at Michigan State University (MSU). Many of our Troy Schools, such as Larson, Smith, and Boulan, for Div. B - middle school - Athens, Troy High, and IA East for Div. C - high school division - qualified and ready to compete. About 150+ schools were competing in total. The medals were given to the top eight in each of the 23 main events and four trial events, and the schools that placed 7-12 overall got a plaque, and the top six schools got a trophy! The schools that got the top 2 overall in each division would advance to Nationals! It was an exciting yet exhausting day for all, with the day spread out from 7:30 a.m. for impounding until about 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. for awards.

Now, it's time for the results! In Division B, the Troy Schools' Smith got 4th place, Boulan got 6th, and Larson got 9th! In Division C, the Troy Schools' Troy High got 4th, Athens got 5th, and IA East got 14th! Even though the season ended for the Troy Schools in SciOly and they are not moving on to Nationals, these are awe-inspiring results, with the middle schools in the top 10 and high schools in the top 15 in the state!

On the entertaining side, when everyone was bored and anxious for the awards to start, the crowd did the wave and flashed their phone lights like stars, which was a cool and fun experience that brought everyone together before the results!

Everyone worked extremely hard, and it was an excellent season for us all! We are all proud of our Troy schools for making it this far and achieving so much. We can’t wait for the next season!
