Baker Middle School is working to ensure equity, belonging, and student voice within Baker.
Baker Middle School launched the Student Equity Council this past year, to help positively impact the Baker community when it comes to empowering other students throughout their education.
Last year the council focused on getting an understanding of the well-being of students in Baker. To accomplish this, on May 5th the council released a survey for all the students to complete. Using the survey results the council reviewed the data and decided on important topics that should be discussed.
When creating the podcast, we talked about topics like belonging, respect towards peers and teachers, student voice, and bullying in Baker Middle School.
The Student Equity Council wanted to create a safe space for all students to be able to hear opinions on controversial topics, from the perspective of different students.
The Student Equity Council would not have been possible without the guidance, support, and the remarkable impact and help provided by Mr. Cross, Mrs. Ebert, and Mrs. La Torre.
This year, the student equity council is planning on expanding their impact across Baker and the community, helping create a better OneTroy.
