There is unique magic that happens when you mix the soft tunes of the Orchestra with the spooky vibes of Halloween. On Thursday, October 15th, Troy Athens High School had their annual Orchtoberfest celebration. This spectacular evening shows off the talents of the high school orchestra who also collaborate with Larson Middle School’s Orchestra. Together, they play masterpieces in their Halloween costumes and put on a good show for the audience.
This highly anticipated evening began inside the crowded Athens auditorium. The air was filled with excitement as Larson and Athens orchestras put on a show by playing vibrant music. But the musical performance was only the beginning. Once the final notes were played, the students went from musicians to actors. They always have a play during this concert to keep the audience entertained and laughing in their seats!

Then, the curtains closed; so the indoor portion of the show is over because something even better was going to start. The crowd sprinted out of the auditorium because a huge Trunk or Treat was about to start in the bus loop of Athens. Outside, the orchestra students had transformed the ordinary bus loop of Athens into a Halloween wonderland. The students went all out in setting up their car trunks with each of them having their own unique themes. The trunks all featured incredible unique, creative, and appealing decorations that was beautifully lit by the dim lights. They’re nicely done and the students were dressed up in some unique costumes, and holding huge bowls of candy waiting to be given out to kids. Children were greeted by enthusiastic orchestra students who gave them handfuls of candy.
The atmosphere was enjoyable for everyone. Parents chatted, friends took cute photos, and young kids walked with buckets of candy which could probably last them until next Halloween.
Beyond the sugar rush, this night brought the community together and celebrated the hard work of the orchestra students at Athens High School. The Athens Orchestra team is incredibly grateful for the immense support and is looking forward to seeing you all again next year!
